Freezer is a support-leaning crowd-control tower that fires a continuous Frost Ray at a single target, stacking a chill effect that slows the enemy down. Once an enemy's chill exceeds its maximum slowdown threshold (unlocked at Level 2), the enemy is briefly frozen in place. From Level 3 onward, Freezer switches to burst fire, adds a defense-melting effect that strips up to 33% of the target's defense, and deals additional Chill Damage over time on top of its direct hits. At max level it also gains an area-of-effect Frost Grenade that can freeze up to five enemies at once.

Freezer Stats Per Level

The table below shows all Freezer Tower Defense Simulator upgrade levels and stats. Click any column header to sort. All values are sourced from the TDS Fandom wiki (checked August 3, 2026).

DPS by Level Lv0 3.6 Lv1 5.7 Lv2 8.6 Lv3 19.0 Lv4 45.0
Upgrade Cost by Level Lv0 $450 Lv1 $300 Lv2 $450 Lv3 $1,700 Lv4 $4,500
Level Upgrade Cost Damage Cooldown Range DPS
0 450 2 0.55 12 3.64
1 300 2 0.35 12 5.71
2 450 3 0.35 14 8.57
3 1700 4 0.15 14 19
4 4500 9 0.15 16 45

Note: Upgrade 'Ull's Arrow' (final level, max). Burst Count increases to 8 (still 0.6s burst cooldown), Chill Damage rises to 5/tick, Freeze Time 0.75s. Gains Frost Grenade ability: freezes up to 5 enemies for 2s within a 6-stud explosion radius, 15s cooldown. DPS = (9x8)/(0.6+0.15x8) + 5 = 40 + 5 = 45, per the wiki's own TDPS formula.

How to Get Freezer

Freezer is purchased directly from the in-game store for 650 Coins, with no level requirement attached to the unlock. Placing it costs 450 in-game cash at Level 0, and it has no placement limit, so players can field as many Freezers as their budget allows.

Upgrading follows the standard five-tier path (Level 0 through Level 4). Level 2 is the first meaningful power spike, since it adds Hidden detection and unlocks the freeze mechanic itself. Level 3 and Level 4 are considerably more expensive (1,700 and 4,500 cash respectively) but add burst fire, defense melting, chill damage over time, and the Frost Grenade ability, which are the upgrades that make late-game Freezer worth the investment.

Is Freezer Worth It?

Freezer's value comes from utility rather than raw damage. Its direct-hit DPS is low compared to dedicated attackers, but the slow and freeze effects reduce how much damage an enemy group can inflict elsewhere on the map by buying time for other towers to fire. The defense-melt effect unlocked at Level 3 also has secondary value: dropping an armored enemy's defense makes every other tower's hits more effective against that target, not just Freezer's own.

One hard limitation worth knowing before investing: enemies with Freeze Immunity cannot be frozen, slowed, or have their defense reduced by Freezer at all, which removes its entire kit against those specific enemy types. Because Freezer only detects Lead enemies from Level 0 and Hidden enemies from Level 2, an unupgraded Freezer will also whiff against early Hidden enemies. Players should weigh these detection gaps and the Freeze Immunity counter before committing cash to multiple Freezers on a given map.

Best Loadouts With Freezer

Freezer works best paired with hard-hitting single-target or splash towers that can capitalize on the slow, freeze, and defense-melt windows it creates, since Freezer itself is not built to finish enemies off quickly. Placing it near a chokepoint lets the freeze effect stack more consistently on enemies as they funnel through, maximizing the amount of time other towers get to attack a frozen or slowed target.

Because Freezer only gains Hidden detection at Level 2, it is best upgraded past that point before relying on it against maps or waves with Hidden enemies. Since it has no placement limit, some setups favor a cluster of Freezers near a single choke to guarantee near-permanent freeze uptime on anything passing through, though this trades cash that could otherwise go toward direct-damage towers.
