Tower Defense Simulator Towers by Category
All Tower Defense Simulator towers fall into one of three categories. Understanding these categories helps you build balanced loadouts that cover damage, income, and team buffs.
DPS Towers (Damage Per Second)
DPS Tower Defense Simulator towers are your primary damage dealers. They directly attack and eliminate enemies through various damage types: single-target burst (Accelerator), sustained rapid fire (Minigunner), splash damage (Ranger), or hybrid damage with income (Cowboy). Most of your loadout slots will be DPS Tower Defense Simulator towers. Among our covered guides, Accelerator, Engineer, Minigunner, Cowboy, Ranger, Golden (Skin Collection), Scout, Sniper, Paintballer, Demoman, Hunter, Soldier, Militant, Freezer, Shotgunner, Rocketeer, Trapper, Ace Pilot, Pyromancer, Military Base, Crook Boss, Electroshocker, Mortar, Turret, Mercenary Base, Gatling Gun, Brawler, Necromancer, Warden, Tesla, Saboteur, Pursuit, Executioner, Assassin, Gladiator, Commando, Toxic Gunner, Sledger, Swarmer, Jester, Slasher, Archer, Hallow Punk, Harvester, Elementalist, Warlock, Operator, Kingpin, Juggernaut, Boomerang, Golden Minigunner, Golden Scout, Golden Soldier, Golden Cowboy, Golden Pyromancer, Golden Demoman, Golden Crook Boss fall into the DPS category.
Support Towers
Support towers boost the performance of your other towers rather than dealing heavy damage themselves. The Commander is the primary support tower, providing passive firerate buffs and the Call to Arms ability that multiplies team DPS. In competitive Fallen and Hardcore play, support towers like Commander and DJ Booth are essential because their buffs scale with your entire defense — the more DPS towers you have, the more value each buff provides.
Economy Towers
Economy Tower Defense Simulator towers generate in-game cash that funds upgrades for your other units. The Farm is the defining economy tower, producing up to $1,500 per wave at max level with no damage capability. The Cowboy occupies a unique hybrid space among Tower Defense Simulator towers, generating income while also dealing damage, though its per-wave income is lower than a dedicated Farm. Without economy towers, you cannot afford late-game upgrades for the Accelerator and Engineer.

Special Unlock Methods
Some towers require completing specific challenges before they can be purchased. The Cowboy requires triumphing (completing) the Badlands II map, though this can be bypassed with a 340 Robux gamepass. Golden Towers are obtained through the Golden Crate (50,000 Coins) or the Daily Store.
Event-exclusive towers are only available during specific limited-time events and cannot be purchased from the regular Store. Check our Tower Defense Simulator tier list for the full list of 69 rated towers including event exclusives.
Which Tower Should You Get First?
If you are starting out in Tower Defense Simulator, prioritize unlocking towers in this order:
- Farm (2,000 Coins, S tier) — Economy is everything. A max-level Farm generates $1,500 per wave, funding all your other tower upgrades.
- Commander (4,000 Coins, S tier) — The firerate buff makes all your other towers deal more damage. Essential for any serious loadout.
- Minigunner (8,000 Coins, B tier) — Reliable sustained DPS with no placement limit. Your early-game damage workhorse.
- Cowboy (4,000 Coins + Badlands II triumph, A tier) — Hybrid damage and income generation once you can complete the triumph requirement.
- Ranger (12,000 Coins, S tier) — Massive range and boss-killing power from cliff positions. Save for this after your core towers are covered.
The late-game towers (Accelerator and Engineer) require Level 50 and thousands of Gems, so they are long-term goals rather than early purchases. Focus on the Coin towers first to build a functional loadout, then work toward the Gem towers as you level up.
